materiel management

USAMMC-K’s Material Management Section supports 167 customers on the Korean Peninsula, including the Air Force and Navy. This section manages the Defense Logistics Agency’s (DLA) Defense Working Capital Fund (DWCF) by ordering medical-surgical and pharmaceutical items needed for immediate use by utilizing the Theater Enterprise-Wide Logistics System (TEWLS). Customers order using Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support Customer Assistance Module (DCAM) and the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) systems. Material Management maintains 3,000 lines by ordering all CLVIII supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment purchases with our prime vendors Cardinal Health, AmeriSource Bergen, Owens & Minor, and DMS Pharmacy, per the Army Medical Material Agreement (AMMA).

Procurement methods used are Electronic Catalog (ECAT), Distribution and Pricing Agreement (DAPA) through Prime Vendors, local purchase with the use of a Government Purchase Card (GPC) and blank purchase agreement (BPA) as well as SMS ordering through DLA. Customers place orders through DMLSS, DCAM, service legacy systems, phone, fax, or email. The orders are picked, packed, consolidated, and shipped by commercial or military trans assets to the fixed facility or operational Joint, inter-service or multi-national customers. In most cases, CLVIII is shipped through commercial transportation through the medical air bridge (MAB). Once received, it is cross docked (shipped) directly to the customer.

In addition to serving our customers daily, MM manages the MCDM program for USAMMA and investigational drugs (IND) and works closely with APS-4 and contingency stocks.
