After 64 years of medical logistics support to the healthcare mission in Korea and throughout the Pacific Rim, on October 16, 2008, the Department of the Army inactivated the 16th Medical Logistics Battalion and activated the U.S. Army Medical Materiel Center-Korea (USAMMC-K) in an effort to realign the Institutional Army healthcare mission in Korea.
 
USAMMC-K provides direct medical materiel support to theater medical forces, ensures and assists tactical units are integrated into the end-to-end medical supply chain and assists the Combatant Commands in Health Logistics Support planning.
 
USAMMC-K provides continuous medical logistics support to sustain the readiness of United States Forces Korea throughout the full range of military operations.

The USAMMC-K team includes approximately 150 personnel, including U.S. and Republic of Korea military, local Korean civilians and Department of the Army civilians.
